Welcome to our parish website. I hope that you will find it helpful in learning more about Holy Cross Anglican Church in Omaha, Nebraska, and about the Anglican Church in North America in general.
Holy Cross Anglican Church is a Traditional Church. You won’t find anything new here. No new theology... no new morality...no trendy worship. What you will find is a warm, friendly and welcoming congregation committed to the Word of God and to worshipping God in spirit and in truth.
Our church is located at 7545 Main Street in the Ralston suburb of Omaha. We have a spacious traditional chapel, an attractive modern parish hall, classroom and office space, and plenty of parking near the door - including covered parking! Everything is on one level, so there are no stairs to climb.
Our chapel is bright and cheerful, with new carpet throughout. We have a traditional altar, communion rails, pews with kneelers, church organ and more. Likewise, our parish hall is clean, bright, completely up to date, and serves our needs well.
We are close to the Interstate and easy to reach from anywhere in Omaha, or the surrounding communities. We are just three blocks west of 72nd Street, on Main Street in Ralston. Our church facility is located on the east side of Hillcrest Landing, just under the covered parking. You can’t miss it!
I am 55 years old, have been in the ministry all of my adult life, and have been married to my wife Cheri for 30 years. I am assisted at Holy Cross parish by Fr. Craig Smith, a retired priest, by Vickie Hecker, our parish Music Director and organist, and by the leaders of various parish organizations.
We celebrate the Holy Eucharist every Sunday at 10:00 AM, with fellowship and refreshments after worship, and a potluck luncheon on the last Sunday of the month. Weekday and holy day Services are as announced. Nursery Care for children under the age of four is available during our 10:00 AM Sunday Eucharist.
You are invited to worship with us any time, and to join us for refreshments after Services and for our monthly potluck luncheons. There is always plenty of good food and fellowship!
There are many opportunities for involvement at Holy Cross parish. We have an excellent choir, and active women’s and men’s groups. The Holy Cross Love Squad ministers through prayer, music, and companionship at hospitals, long term care facilities and hospices, and celebrates the Holy Eucharist at the chapel of Douglas County Hospital every month. Our food ministry provides the Open Door Mission with hundreds of pounds of food, and delivers hundreds of pounds of gourmet bread donations to the Francis and Siena House Shelters, every month. We have a Prayer Chain, are involved in pro-life work, raise funds for Christian relief and development and for foreign missions, and our adult Christian Education classes are taught at the college level.
We are a local church with a national and global outreach. We have a popular parish website packed with information, and a well read blog - Fr. Novak’s Blog.
At Holy Cross parish God is worshipped in a spirit of holiness, the Word of God is proclaimed and taught, the sacraments are administered with reverence, and the great hymns of the Church are sung, all in an atmosphere of Christian love and warm fellowship.
We enjoy many fun parish activities at Holy Cross, including “Dinner and a Movie Night,” a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, an annual Summer Church Picnic, and a Fall Hayrack Ride, Bonfire and Potluck. The Christian life is anything but dull at Holy Cross parish - it’s the good life!
Holy Cross parish is a church where you will not feel like a stranger. After a few Sundays you will feel like you have known everyone for years. If you are looking for a church home or visiting the Omaha area, I hope that you will worship with us. Holy Cross parish is a faithful, friendly and active church, and we have a place for you. Come and see us grow!
Wishing you every grace and blessing,
Fr. Victor E. Novak
Rector
